Now, this may seem paradoxical, but there’s a reason for it: it can lead to procrastination, especially if our lizard brain comes in and takes comfort in putting off the terrifying prospect of getting rejected from jobs.

You may have spent a few hours putting together what you thought was a good profile, and guess what? You’re not sure if anyone has read it, but that’s fine.

 

The truth is that no one will look at your profile early on, and if they do, they are unlikely to choose you. Sure, you might land a job here and there, but we’re not here to cast a line and hope for the best.

We’re jumping into the stream and grabbing fish with our bare hands. Simply do the bare minimum of work required to fill out the forms and move on.

This isn’t to suggest that having a good profile won’t benefit you later on, but I found that focusing on my proposals rather than my profile gave me far more success.

The outcomes may differ for you; try it out and see.

 

#2. Apply for High-Probability Freelance Positions With Long-Term Prospects

Simply scroll down to the portion of the work description where freelancers can rate the customer to locate their name. Skip these jobs if you can’t identify their name or see freelancers referencing the client as “client.”

 

Clients that appear robotic or transactional don’t fit into that pattern, and you want to develop connection and value with them.

Make use of specific language.

Speaking in the client’s language and using descriptive words from their job description will undoubtedly earn you brownie points.

Instead of being a bother, they’ll appreciate the fact that you’re ensuring that they can come to you for help with their next project.

Request a positive review and consider your objectives for the evaluation. Do you require a reference that demonstrates your trustworthiness? Do you require anything that extols the virtues of your specialized knowledge?

 

Form a fill-in-the-blank or even write the entire testimonial for them and obtain their permission. Make it as simple for them to say yes as possible.
